Geography: Located in the Western Black Sea Region, between 41°53' north latitude and 32°45' east longitude. It is bordered to the north by the Black Sea with a 59 km coastline, to the east by Kastamonu, to the east and south by Karabük, and to the west by Zonguldak. Its area is 2,143 km². The elevation of the city center is 25 meters.
